As Legal Director, you will lead a small team to support China mainland and international market operation.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small legal team to provide end-to-end legal support for the company's retail operations in APAC, including store openings/closings, regional supply chain agreements, customer data protection (e.g., GDPR-Asia, local privacy laws), and promotional marketing compliance.​
  • Review, draft, and negotiate key commercial contracts: supplier agreements, landlord leases, distribution partnerships, and vendor service contracts-tailoring terms to APAC market-specific legal requirements.​​
  • Conduct regular legal risk assessments for new retail initiatives (e.g., e-commerce launches, cross-border sales) and develop mitigation plans (e.g., policy updates, staff training).​
  • Partner with senior leadership to provide strategic legal counsel on APAC business decisions, such as market entry strategies, M&A, and brand expansion.​
  • Advise on legal implications of retail trends (e.g., omnichannel sales, private label development, sustainability initiatives) to balance innovation with legal risk.​​
  • Manage and resolve regional legal disputes (e.g., contract breaches, consumer complaints, employment issues) efficiently, preferring proactive resolution over litigation where possible.​
  • Collaborate with external law firms in APAC markets to handle specialized legal matters (e.g., local litigation, regulatory investigations) and maintain strong vendor relationships.

  • Law degree from a reputable university, and PRC bar qualified.​
  • 12+ years of legal experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role (managing small teams) within the retail/FMCG sector.​​
  • Strong team leadership skills: Ability to motivate, develop, and manage a small team to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced retail environment.​
  • Excellent communication & stakeholder management: Ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal teams (e.g., store operations, marketing) and influence senior leadership.​
  • Analytical & problem-solving mindset: Proactive identification of legal risks and delivery of practical, business-oriented solutions.​
  • Fluency in English (written & spoken) is mandatory.
