- Serve as the trusted legal partner to China business leadership, offering proactive and strategic legal counsel to support end-to-end business operations, including new product launches, market access, commercialization, and partnership initiatives. Balance legal risk management with business growth objectives to enable informed decision-making.
- Lead regulatory affairs and compliance efforts, managing relationships with key regulatory authorities to ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and industry standards. Develop and implement compliance programs to address evolving regulatory requirements.
- Support HR with employment law matters, including talent management, and workplace policies, disputes.
- Advise Finance on financial transactions, licensing agreements, and budget-related legal issues.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve complex legal challenges in day-to-day operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts (e.g., distribution agreements, service contracts etc) to protect company interests while facilitating business transactions.
- Oversee dispute resolution, managing litigation, arbitration, or regulatory investigations as needed, with a focus on minimizing business disruption.
- Bachelor's degree in Law; LL.M. or equivalent advanced legal qualification is preferred. Admitted to practice law in China.
- Minimum 10+ years of legal experience, with at least 5+ years in a senior legal role within a medical device company. Deep understanding of China's medical device regulatory framework.
- Strong business acumen with a proven track record of aligning legal strategies with business goals, and driving operational efficiency through legal support.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing regulatory interactions, including successful experience navigating inspections, approvals, and compliance audits with Chinese regulatory bodies.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with non-legal stakeholders and influence decision-making.
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken) as a working language; proficiency in Mandarin is required.
