Customer Quality Engineer

- Interface mainly with assigned customers, suppliers, and various company departments to resolve quality problems and support strategic quality improvement activities.
- Responsible to ensure reliable and consistent customer support and responsive process performance through continuous improvement as measured by the customer.
- Prepare technical analysis and reports describing quality data and engineering findings to support management decisions; makes recommendations for improving quality.
- Lead and support quality investigations as needed and interface with customers and/or suppliers as required in their required formats and electronic portals. Prepare APQP and customer specific PPAP requirements - control plans, flow changes, and capability
- Coordinate and respond on time to internal and external customer complaints via official documentation formats per customer requirements (8D, 3x5W, Ishikawa, etc.)
- Support quality improvement plans to drive improvements with customers as well as ZF plants. Coordinate and support engineering analysis of parts, validation issues. Establish Quality Standards as applicable for product analysis. Prepares summary reports on quality performance and returned material for both management and customer review.
- Performs gage studies for capability on new or improved processes; investigates root cause analysis; and performs process statistical analysis evaluations and DOE for problem identification.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field. Experience required is minimum 5+ years. Preferred +10 years.
- Six Sigma Black Belt (SSBB) and/or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification preferred; with the ability to applicably demonstrate the knowledge
- Project management expertise required. Knowledge of automotive product development design, electronic hardware development and test
- Electronic hardware equipment (oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, etc.), soldering, and use of computer-controlled equipment
- Must be able to work well in a cross-functional environment. Candidate preferably is highly motivated and is driven to achieve at a high level. Must be capable of handling adversarial situations in an effective manner when needed
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Candidate will use statistical techniques to problem solve and exploit areas of focus for quality investigations. Excellent customer liaison/contact experience is required to be successful. Experience with manufacturing plants and processes. Ability to diagnose and root-cause technical and manufacturing issues.
