- Identify automation opportunities in manufacturing and supporting processes to improve quality, capacity and labor productivity.
- Design and develop automation concepts for assembly, labeling, packaging, handling, inspection and material flow processes.
- Lead or support automation projects from URS, concept design, supplier evaluation, design review, build, FAT/SAT, installation, commissioning and handover.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, technical requirements, timelines and validation needs.
- Support robot, motion control, PLC, HMI, sensor, vision and system integration activities.
- Evaluate and improve equipment performance, process stability and automation reliability.
- Drive process and equipment optimization to reduce manual intervention, improve safety and increase throughput.
- Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for automation-related issues.
- Develop and maintain technical documents such as URS, specifications, FMEA, SOP, WI and project reports.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure project quality, schedule and cost control.
- Support validation, verification and qualification of automation systems and processes.
- The ability to perform independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to influence and negotiate with people and resolve issues/problems.
- Communicate recommendations and decisions across the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in a fast-paced technical environment, absorb technical information, review technical information and make technical decisions.
- Bachelor Degree in Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field; Master degree is preferred.
- 3-5 years direct experience in automation engineering, equipment engineering or manufacturing engineering.
- Experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device or advanced manufacturing industry is preferred.
- Direct experience in PLC, HMI, motion control, robotics, sensors, machine vision or industrial communication systems is preferred.
- Experience managing automation projects and supplier coordination is preferred.
- Familiarity with process validation, equipment qualification and risk assessment tools such as FMEA is preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft tools; Word, Excel, Power Point; experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PLC programming or robot programming is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and teamwork skills are required.
- Experience with structured problem solving tools such as 8D, 5-whys or fishbone.
- Ability to analyze and process data and draw the appropriate conclusions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of equipment design, manufacturing process control and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience prioritizing conflicting demands.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and influencing skills.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and facilitating teams to identify and implement solutions to complex problems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skill in English, be able to work in a multicultural environment.
- Practical experience in ERP/MES and shopfloor automation environment.
- Ability to achieve goals independently within a challenging time frame.
