- Oversee daily mining operations across multiple mine sites
- Plan and coordinate raw clay extraction activities to meet production requirements
- Optimize mining sequences and methods to maximize resource recovery and quality
- Ensure continuous supply of high-quality raw bentonite materials to the Site
- Coordinate with Production Manager to align raw material supply with processing schedules
- Ensure full compliance with Chinese mining safety regulations and ESHA standards
- Manage emergency response procedures and incident investigations
- Oversee environmental protection measures including topsoil preservation, land restoration, and ecosystem conservation
- Ensure proper drilling practices to minimize environmental impacts
- Collaborate with geologists to develop mining plans that minimize environmental impact
- Conduct geological assessments and reserve evaluations
- Select high-value raw clay sources for different product grades (Paper, AntiTack, High-Performance Foundry grades)
- Optimize mine site selection based on quality requirements and cost efficiency
- Manage mine life planning and closure strategies
- Lead and develop the mining team including Mining Supervisors and mining personnel
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching to team members
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and competency development
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with all Chinese mining laws, regulations, and permit requirements
- Maintain mining licenses, permits, and regulatory documentation
- Liaise with local government authorities and regulatory bodies
- Manage relationships with local communities and stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to Clariant's Anti-Fraud Policy and Code of Ethics
- Develop and manage mining operations budget
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through process optimization
- Implement lean mining practices and efficiency improvements
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for mining operations
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Clariant Excellence principles
- Education: • Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology, Mineralogy, Applied Geosciences, or equivalent field
- Experience: • Minimum 5 years in a mining management or supervisory role • Proven experience navigating the Chinese mining regulatory environment
- Skills: • Strong command of English language • Proficient in standard office software (e.g., MS Office)
