Job descriptionSome careers have more impact than others.If you’re looking for a career where you can make a real impression, join HSBC and discover how valued you’ll be.We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specialist.Business: CTO InfrastructurePrincipal responsibilitiesWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Mainframe z/OS System Support Specialist to join our Mainframe Infrastructure Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in z/OS systems administration, support, and troubleshooting. This role is critical in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our mainframe environment.

Provide day-to-day support for the z/OS operating system and associated subsystems.
Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure optimal operation.
Perform system installations, upgrades, and patches in accordance with best practices and company policies.
IBMz hardware/Software design, configuration, implementation and maintenance.
Collaborate with application teams to troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues.
Maintain system documentation, including configuration, procedures, and operational guidelines.
Implement and manage backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability.
Disaster Recovery planning and execution.
Assist in capacity planning and performance tuning of the mainframe environment.
Setup automation to reduce manual interventions in the z/OS infrastructure.
Participate in on-call support rotation and respond to incidents as needed.
Consolidate and reduce infrastructure complexity.
Risk and Cost Management.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in mainframe technology.
Provide training and support to junior team members as needed.

Requirements

Minimum of 10 years of experience in z/OS system administration and support.
Strong knowledge of a combination z/OS,DB2,CICS,Storage, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL, mainframe utilities, etc.
Must have knowledge of IBM and CA Products and be able to work independently.

Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., REXX, CLIST,).
Proficient in Top Secret skills.
Performance monitoring using Omegamon, RMF, SMF and SAS.
Experience in Agile Methodology and the use of agile tooling like Jenkins, Groovy, z/OSMF and Zowe.
