The Director Environmental, Health, Safety and Business Continuity will lead the development/implementation of strategies and policies that ensure sustainability, health, environmental and safety systems (behavior and physical improvements/changes) are in place that enable sustained improvement for the Asia Pacific (AP) region. This position will ensure compliance to the Goodyear reporting standards and processes.The incumbent will drive the environmental, health and safety (EHS) systems/tools integration into the AP business and follow the implementation to ensure success. He/She will participate in AP leadership meetings and workshops to provide strategic direction/alignments on EHS and sustainability (water, carbon, etc.). This role will lead and address the establishment and publication of internal/external metrics and reports that demonstrate world-class performance to our shareholders, customers, associates, neighbors, public interest groups, government agencies and other marketplace stakeholders. The associate will build teams and talent within AP EHS organization.Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensure compliance to country regulations and Goodyear standards.
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies, programs and policies that reduce risk of injuries, illness and environmental incidents in the AP business unit.
  • Confirm compliance to the Goodyear global EHS reporting standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement of EHS management systems, programs and policies.
  • Provide communication to Goodyear leadership regarding performance relative to metrics, systems progress and compliance status.
  • Be a critical member of the global EHS Leadership team, bringing thought leadership and helping to inform the global EHS strategy and direction.
  • Act as a peer to manufacturing leadership in the region, while ensuring functional excellence is deployed in a challenging operational and business environment.
Key Experience
  • 10 or more years’ experience leading an EHS function (within a manufacturing setting)
  • Experience working with other functions of the business (i.e., Manufacturing, Marketing, Research and Development [R&D], Supply Chain, etc.)
  • Required; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environment Health and Safety or a related field
  • Desired; Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety or a related field
Key Skills
  • Ability to communicate and influence with all levels of leadership (including organized labor)
  • Excellent communication skills (written/verbal)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft systems and tools
  • Confidence to apply global EHS standards within the business and operating environments
  • Ability to make decisions in difficult and challenging situations, and to provide thought leadership at all levels with a sense of confidence
  • Ability and understanding to link activities to business objectives
