- Work closely with the director to formulate and execute a comprehensive development plan for the center, aligning with NYU Shanghai’s strategic goals and expectation of the sponsor of the center;
- Collaborate with the director and key center faculty members to develop and implement administrative policies, procedures, and best practices;
- Provide leadership in the administrative operations of the center and oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and management of center researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and staff members.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including center sponsors, advisory board members, faculty members, researchers, students, and industry partners;
- Contribute to the identification and pursuit of collaborative opportunities with industry partners, government agencies, and other relevant research institutions;
- Assume a leadership role in representing the center in university meetings, conferences, external forums, and foster growth, visibility, and sustained success of the center.
- Oversee the center's budget, ensuring responsible allocation of funds and strict adherence to financial policies;
- Manage and supervise the finance administration of the center, guaranteeing the proper and effective use of funds;
- Proactively explore, identify, and secure additional funding opportunities to catalyze the sustained growth and development of the center.
- Build and coordinate vibrant research projects in related areas within the center and develop strong and interdisciplinary collaborations both internally and externally;
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among research teams, contributing to the successful progression of various research projects;
- Oversee the organization of a diverse range of center events, including conferences, seminars, and guest talks, fostering a vibrant intellectual environment.
- Oversee the enhancement of the center's physical resources, encompassing laboratories, equipment, and technology infrastructure, with a particular focus on renovating and developing existing office and research spaces;
- Collaborate with relevant vendors to procure necessary equipment, such as High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems, and ensuring the establishment of a cutting-edge environment;
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement sustainable practices that contribute to the proper use and long-term efficiency of the center's spaces and facilities.
- Master's or Ph.D. in a STEM field preferred.
- Experience in administrative leadership within an academic or research setting;
- Proven track record of successful project management and team leadership;
- Strong financial management skills and experience working with funding agencies.
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills;
- Visionary mindset with the ability to contribute to the strategic development of the center;
