- Independently lead and manage the Discovery Chemistry organization.
- Define and implement medicinal chemistry strategies that drive innovation and success across the early pipeline.
- Ensure alignment of internal and external resources to meet discovery and strategic program goals.
- Lead senior scientific staff and foster leadership development across the function.
- Project Oversight & Execution
- Oversee multiple discovery-stage projects, ensuring timely progression through hit identification, lead optimization, and candidate nomination.
- Coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams, including biology, pharmacology, DMPK, and clinical development.
- May serve as the chemistry lead on multi-disciplinary program teams and contribute to strategic decision-making.
- Team Development & Talent Management
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing medicinal chemistry team.
- Cultivate a culture of excellence, innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
- Promote continuous scientific development and career progression of team members.
- Participate in scientific due diligence to support in-licensing and partnership decisions.
- Communication & Reporting
- Present scientific strategy and project updates to executive leadership, investors, and external stakeholders as needed.
- Contribute to regulatory submissions and support intellectual property strategy.
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related discipline.
- 15- 20 years of industry experience, with a strong track record of bringing assets from innovation to PCC/IND stage, alongside with scientific leadership team.
- Proven experience leading discovery chemistry functions and multi-disciplinary teams across therapeutic areas.
- Demonstrated success in advancing programs from hit identification to clinical candidate nomination.
- Strong functional expertise in medicinal chemistry, Prior managerial experience, including leading leaders, is required.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and strategic leadership skills.
- Experience working in both biotech and large pharma settings is a plus.
