Job Description:Job Summary (General Responsibilities):As a 3D Animator at Belkin, your main responsibility will be to create hyper-realistic animations that showcase a wide range of our products. The content you produce will be used across various digital platforms such as Belkin.com, social media, trade shows, and retail environments to name a few. You will also be responsible for preparing 3D assets for animation which will include applying colors, materials, finishes, textures, and lighting to them. Other duties include rendering individual 3D shots and compositing them together to create one cohesive animation that matches the initial storyboard.Specific responsibilities include:
  • Creating 3D product/scene animations using Cinema 4D, Blender, or Keyshot.
  • Creating 3D Exploded view animations with Cinema 4D, Blender, or Keyshot.
  • Creating 3D X-Ray view animations with Cinema 4D, Blender, or Keyshot.
  • Creating 3D Cutaway view animations with Cinema 4D, Blender, or Keyshot.
  • Creating 3D Cable Spline animations with Cinema 4D, Blender, or Keyshot.
  • Applying color, material, finish, and textures to 3D assets.
  • Applying lighting to 3D scenes using techniques such as physical lighting and HDRI lighting as needed.
  • Compositing individual rendered shots into one completed animation that aligns with the provided storyboard.
  • Rendering and outputting the final video in various dimensions and file types.
  • Having the ability to multi-task and properly name, tag, and deliver files to the correct teams and locations.
  • Accepting the challenge of keeping up to date with the latest animation trends, technologies, and tools.
  • Collaborating with Marketing, Innovation Creative Group (ICG), and Innovation Design Group (IDG) to incorporate feedback on product use and representation.
  • Having the ability to give and take constructive criticism.
  • Being able to receive and follow coaching directions from your manager to ultimately become an autonomous and self-sufficient member of the creative team.
  • Being able to manage your time effectively to complete tasks and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Being a proactive team player by continuously contributing to the creative collective knowledge of the Creative Studio.
  • Having the ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of every project.
  • Using best judgment practices to execute tasks required to get the desired animation outcome.
  • Being able to backup all working files to the server daily to ensure that no work is lost.
  • Being able to manage your time efficiently by using the best techniques for the job at hand.
  • Working with Traffic and Marketing to prioritize animation requests based on business priorities and scheduled deadlines.
  • Proactively managing projects with Traffic and Marketing to control feedback loops and alert teams of any risk to the deadline or competing feedback.
  • Alerting your manager in a timely fashion if any projects are at risk of not meeting deadlines.
  • Being able to manage your workload and vet project prioritization to ensure resources spent are aligned with the business case.
  • Able to function within deadlines, while working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly detailed oriented, possess excellent communication skills, assertiveness, self-starter, ability to keep projects moving on predetermined production schedules, and have strong computer skills with the ability to troubleshoot.
  • Accountable for adhering to the organization and department procedures and guidelines, including maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Fulfill responsibilities under ISO 9001 and 14001; understand and fully support ISO system.

Software Knowledge & Requirements:
  • Able to work in both PC and MAC environments is a must.
  • Expert 3D knowledge of Cinema 4D + Redshift, Blender, or Keyshot.
  • Expert 2D knowledge of After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Expert knowledge of animation techniques and best practices (hard surface, splines, particles).
  • Expert knowledge of UV texture mapping, lighting, and rendering.
  • Basic knowledge of 2D/3D compositing & video editing (in After Effects).
  • Basic knowledge of 3D modeling and cable creation.
  • Ability to import CAD data into the 3D software.
  • 2D Motion Graphics a huge plus.
  • Augmented Reality knowledge is a huge plus.
  • Particle simulation knowledge is a huge plus.
  • Basic 3D rigging knowledge is a plus.
  • Audio editing is a plus.
  • Workfront MRM & DAM knowledge is a plus.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a 3D/2D Animator (preferably in the tech field).
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience demonstrating ongoing professional development in animation is required.
