Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC) now invites candidates for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management which is expected to be filled as soon as possible.Job DescriptionThe Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) is the largest Faculty/School at UIC. The programmes offered are designed with the ultimate goals of imparting students with academic and professional training in their chosen business fields and preparing them well to enter the workforce or further their studies upon graduation. FBM has close to 100 academic staff members who teach and conduct research in the following areas, Accounting, Finance, Applied Economics, Management of Human Resources, Marketing Management, E-Business Management and Information Systems, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Digital Media Management, Business Analytics and Communication-Media Management. The Faculty offers programmes at undergraduate, masters', MPhil and PhD levels.The appointee will provide vision, strategic direction and academic leadership of the Faculty, in support of the wider College's strategic ambitions to be leading, diverse, digital and sustainable. The appointee should be a visionary leader and distinguished scholar, who is eligible for faculty appointment as a full professor or a chair professor in one or more of the Faculty's teaching and/or research fields. S/he reports to the Vice-President (Academic Affairs) and is a key member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to the advancement of the College. The Dean is expected to provide effective direction and delegate responsibility within the Faculty when appropriate, including (1) execution of all Faculty's initiatives and planning; (2) facilitation of academic and administrative development by providing effective guidance in all aspects of the Faculty's academic programmes, research endeavors, and community outreach activities; (3) acting as an inspiring role model and ensuring the Faculty continues to provide a high-quality academic experience for students and a stimulating environment for the staff; and (4) provide leadership in matters for staff development, recruitment and retention.Job RequirementThe successful candidate must hold a PhD awarded by a globally recognized university, currently holds a senior academic position (at least at full professor level) in his/her institution and have rich experience in academic leadership, strategic planning, and personnel management, as well as senior academic management experience in a university or research institution, with a strong commitment to the promotion and implementation of Liberal Arts education. The candidate should have a clear collaborative commitment and the ability to develop and implement teaching and research strategies and is able to build and sustain effective working relationships, both internally and externally. S/he must have a high level of communicative competence in English, while a strong ability in Chinese (Putonghua and/or Cantonese) is preferred. Candidates with administration and management experience in international universities or Sino-foreign joint universities, or familiar with the education systems in both Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland would be an advantage.BenefitsCommencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Appointment to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of three years.
