This role is critical for the sustainability strategy execution for adidas Own Operations under the target framework, directly feeding into the companies' sustainability performance and reputation.This role is responsible for leading the energy, water and waste relevant activities across the defined regional scope for Own Operations (administration offices, distribution centers, production sites, own retail stores) for the GCA market and all the implementation of the ESG requirements.Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the market energy and environmental (water and waste) target setting process, target performance and tracking of relevant data
  • Responsible for the development of the renewable energy procurement plan and orchestration of the cross-functional implementation for the market in accordance with the global sustainability roadmap
  • Responsible for the budget planning and tracking of market energy portfolio (including renewable energy) and the continuous monitoring of relevant market trends
  • Responsible for the market (centralized) management of different renewable energy contracts and certificates: PPA set-up, implementation, governance, EAC (Energy Attribute Certificates) procurement and governance, onsite renewable electricity production development and tracking
  • Responsible for monitoring energy, waste and water data input in defined systems across the market from local functions, developing and applying data verification methods in accordance with global reporting standards and developing and implementing strategies and actions to close data gaps
  • Develops, implements and governs energy/carbon emission, water and waste-relevant data and data systems to ensure compliance with reporting standards and data audits
  • Participates in development of Energy and Environment Policies and ensures implementation of compliant measures in the market
  • Provides input into the department`s Strategy, Planning, Facility & Retail operations policies/manuals and KPI reporting
  • Provides Input for SBP Decarbonization strategy, Annual Report, GC Perf. Analysis, CDP, DJSI, Strategic Target Setting and input into sustainability target development for Own Operations
  • Supports local facility management and other local functions in market energy supplier tenders, energy contracts set-up
  • Consults market teams in planning onsite renewable energy projects and energy efficiency measures including budget planning and business cases
  • Supports Global IMS Certification compliance and audits with a focus on energy and environment management system standards (ISO 50001/ISO 14001) for Own Operations in the market
  • Actively ensures cross-functional communication and collaboration with key stakeholders and 3rd parties in assigned area of responsibility
  • Provides expertise for assigned functional areas towards team and business partners
  • Ensures smooth operation of the day-to-day business by taking on ownership for related actions, such as energy, water and waste invoices and contracts for market

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Self-motivated and high level of influencing skills, can-do attitude
  • Staying calm under pressure; able to work on tight deadlines on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong Excel analytics skills, knowledge of smartsheet is a plus
  • Proven Project management experience (e.g. project planning and process mapping)
  • Profound experience in Real Estate or Facility Management business
  • Business fluency in English (written and spoken), proficient knowledge in a second foreign language is a plus
  • Business travel will be required
Prerequisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
  • University degree (or equivalent) in business studies, proven knowledge in environmental or energy management is a plus
  • Minimum 6 years' professional experience, preferably working for global player, ideally in the sporting goods industry or facilities management
  • Strong interest and ideally solid knowledge of the regional energy markets & trends
  • Knowledge in green building standards, construction and facility management as well as energy management standards (e.g. ISO 50001/ISO 14001) is a plus
  • Robust experience with and knowledge of data integrity and reporting process governance principles
  • Experience with enterprise data reporting systems and processes
