We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Chemist to join our Clearcoat Formulation Development team. This role focuses on the design, optimization, and evaluation of clearcoat systems for automotive coatings, supporting both innovation and customer-specific projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams including application engineering, testing, and production to deliver high-performance, sustainable solutions.Main Tasks:
- Develop and optimize clearcoat formulations to meet performance, cost, and sustainability targets.
- Conduct lab-scale synthesis, application trials, and performance testing (e.g., hardness, gloss, weathering resistance).
- Analyze test data and prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with colleagues in application planning and daily communication routines (e.g., recurring meetings such as Daily application plan communication).
- Support customer trials and troubleshooting, including on-site technical service when needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of experimental work and ensure compliance with EHS standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in coatings formulation, preferably in automotive clearcoats.
- Hands-on experience with formulation tools, application equipment, and physical testing methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills in both English and Mandarin.
- Proactive, collaborative, and capable of working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Familiarity with customer-specific requirements (e.g., BYD or other OEMs).
- Experience with data interpretation and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of regulatory and sustainability trends in coatings.
