- Hands-on Technical Leadership: Lead the design and implementation of quantum-inspired and gate-based quantum algorithms for Fixed Income portfolio optimization, credit risk modelling, liquidity analysis, and other problems in Asset Management.
- Strategic Roadmap Delivery: Contribute to the 3-year technology roadmap by identifying high-impact use cases where quantum computing can enhance investment performance, reduce operational risk, and improve client outcomes.
- Lead implementation of quantum computing, quantum infrastructure, software engineering, exploration of related frameworks and tools, and observability.
- Start with individual contributor with potential to lead a local high‑performing quantum computing team —building a culture grounded in deep technology expertise and accountability (not traditional staff‑augmentation models).
- Champion engineering excellence, technical rigor, and innovation across the organization.
- Innovation & Best Practices: Evaluate, adopt, and standardize cutting‑edge quantum computing capabilities—including analog or digital quantum computing platforms, tensor quantum computing frameworks, and libraries/tools from various vendors.
- Quality & Performance: Ensure solutions meet the highest engineering standards through code reviews, testing frameworks, and adherence to industry guidelines.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Build a collaborative engineering community focused on continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
- Security & Compliance: Uphold stringent risk, security, and regulatory requirements; ensure robust data protection and governance.
- Direct Problem Solving: Act as a “player-coach”, spending a significant portion of time coding and architecting solutions within our public could environment.
- Fixed Income Integration: Collaborate with Investment and Global Technology Services (GTS) teams to integrate quantum workflows into existing data platforms and business services.
- Work with major vendors—including quantum platform providers and service partners—ensuring strong integration, service quality, and contractual outcomes.
- Advanced degree (PhD or master’s degree) required (Quantum Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related).
- Hard-Core technical Expertise: Exceptional quantitative, analytical, and critical thinking skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven Execution: A results-driven mindset with the ability to navigate a fast-paced, matrixed global environment.
- Business Acumen: Ability to translate complex quantum concepts into compelling analyses for execution and senior leadership understanding.
- Integrity and Ethics: Maintains an unquestionable personal code of ethics and integrity in alignment with State Street standards
- Quantum Experience: a minimum of 5 years of hands-on coding experience specifically in quantum computing (e.g. Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane) applied to Asset Management or broader financial services problems.
- Machine and Deep Learning: Proficiency in building, training, and deploying neural networks using PyTorch or TensorFlow. Experience with Transformers, LLMs, and Reinforcement Learning for financial problem is highly preferred.
- Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of financial instruments, multi-asset class optimization, and the Institutional Asset Management landscape.
- Leadership History: Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and delivering multi-year technology projects.
- Fluent in English; highly detail‑oriented, results‑driven, candid, and execution‑focused.
- Prior Pascal, D-Wav, or IBM platform experience.
- CFA Level I or equivalent credential.
