Working with us means working with the latest technologies and groundbreaking, sustainable innovations.Join us on our journey for a better tomorrow.Your RoleThe Technology Lead VTTG China will report to the VTTG Core Technology manager, and be responsible, initially, for 4 Engineers/Scientists. It is expected that over time the Technology Lead will grow the team, and will be responsible for development and retention of employees and recruitment of further members when appropriate. The Technology Lead VTTG China will act as a local ambassador for the VTTG, working closely with the main team in UK, but with other VTTG members global. There will be expectation to travel, 10-20% of time, both in locally and internationally from time to time.

Initiate, plan and manage innovative technology solutions to the vacuum and abatement market that will advance Atlas Copco products and their application capability.
Together with the main VTTG team, and working with stakeholders, generate a roadmap and pipeline of projects
Seek out collaborative partners in China, for example academia, suppliers, customers
To lead a team of engineers and scientists to undertake technology project work
To manage the knowledge and behaviour development of the new team
To drive engineering/scientific best practice within the team with a focus on:

supporting recommended technologies with detailed evidence, including reports, proof-of-concept demonstrations, test reports, technical specifications, and engineering models.
Promoting rigorous problem-solving techniques to improve tools and methods within the technical community.
Enhancing experimental/prototyping techniques in product development using up-to-date methods, software, and equipment for efficient results.
With the team, develop project plans with estimated timescales and costs
Publish a technology risk assessment backed up by documented analysis and test results.

To succeed, you will need

Degree, Masters or Doctorate in relevant Engineering/Science discipline or equivalent experience
A track record of technology/ R&D development and leadership within China, preferably with a global company
Relevant Previous experience (minimum years to competently carry out the role, not total year of experience): At least 10 years' experience, including 3 years in a senior role, within industry or research associated with product creation and development.
Significant practical experience of relevant design, experimental and investigative techniques in laboratory and real-world environments.
Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and technologies
Ability to research other areas of engineering/technology and make informed decisions to guide projects in areas of design, development and research.
Ability to define, plan and deliver projects to agreed metrics ensuring all aspects of design, development and research are fully understood and design rules/parameters are defined and documented.
Ability to generate innovative designs, methods and new technologies with a proven record of IP.
Strong awareness and experience in creating and protecting IP
Ability to build relationships and network global within a decentralised framework
Awareness of customer, competitor and 3rd party technology landscape.
Ability to represent the VTTG function internally and externally with credible reports, papers and presentations in order to support the business and grow the interaction for Technology Development.
Proficient in all standard office software tools.
Must be aware of AI and potential uses in terms of use within product solutions and as enabling tool for performance and efficiency of projects. Experience in use of AI for technology development and advantage
