WAW is a global leader in designing and supplying innovative wet and dry waste equipment and freshwater generation solutions for passenger vessels & conventional waste management and ballast water treatment equipment for all marine segments. WAW has the industry's broadest product offering to secure beyond compliant operations for our marine customers.We have now a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Project Manager to join our busy Project Management team in the Water and Waste processing business, based in Suzhou, China.As a Lead Project Manager, you will report to the Manager, WAW ASIA and will play a key role in delivering project management practices throughout the project lifecycle. Also taking a leading role in coordinating workload, reporting on performance, and supporting the local project delivery team.What will you be doing?Team Leadership & Coordination
  • Managing current on hand workload and distribution of new projects
  • Developing and managing delivery performance reporting
  • Leading & contributing to the continuous improvement activities related to Conventional Waste product lifecycle delivery process and ways of working
  • Coordinating local Project Planner
  • Supporting in the competence development of other team members
Project Management
  • Supporting and contributing in sales contracting and proposal phase of a project
  • For projects assigned to them, Candidates will be responsible and accountable for the financial management and physical delivery ontime delivery of a projects full scope of supply
  • Creating and maintaining project plans and/or tracking tools to schedule and monitor scope deliverables
  • Accurately interpret key issues & risks of the project from the client and ensure these are mitigated wherever possible and effectively documented and communicated to all members of the project team and relevant departments
  • Execute contracts according to the agreed upon terms and being responsible for change order management and execution during the projects delivery
  • Effectively manage internal resources to ensure project deliverables are ontime
  • Deliver projects in accordance with Wärtsilä Water Systems procedures and guidelines
  • Create & present progress/variance reports to management/project stakeholders as required including project final evaluation and wrap up meetings / reports
  • Where needed, coordinating onsite commissioning of projects, ensuring satisfactory final product handover to the client
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships
  • Some travel to visit customers and/or vessels may be required. This may be domestic or international.
You will shine in this role As a Project when you have:
  • Proven Project Management experience where the candidate was responsible for the whole delivery lifecycle to an end user/customer - minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar position
  • Holds an internationally recognised Project Management Qualification
  • Marine/offshore industry experience is preferred but not essential
  • Experience using SAP would be very helpful, or as a minimum using other similar ERP/MRP systems
  • Must have Excellent English & Chinese Communication Skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), can use English confidently as main working Language
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and evidence in building strong customer relationships that enhance the customer experience
  • High attention to detail, to include establishing milestones, dependencies and risk mitigation plans
  • Proactive approach towards problem resolution, solution sharing and establishing best practice
  • Customer focussed whilst being commercially aware with proven ability to be strategic whilst assured of operational delivery within set parameters and budgets
