- Align and define NVH, sound & aero-acoustic performance targets and develop respective measures together within RD China and the global RD network
- Communicate and drive the implementation of the China-specific NVH, sound & aero-acoustic performance in vehicle projects (via Project groups, Commodity groups, Function integration groups). Provide input to functional and module strategies (China Requirement Working Groups, collaboration within global RD network).
- Prepare and align NVH, sound & aero-acoustic release documentation
- Develop, adjust and validate NVH, sound & aero-acoustic testing procedures to meet major use cases in China in order to evaluate and release the NVH, sound & aero-acoustic performance.
- Identify most harming and customer-related parameters based on field research, customer observation and feedback.
- Plan and prepare the required vehicles, parts and resources.
- Conduct NVH, sound & aero-acoustic tests according to Mercedes-Benz standards and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate tests on test benches and test facilities of GRC and 3rd parties.
- Organize evaluation drives and management drives.
- Create test reports and regularly present testing progress in relevant committees.
- Proper documentation of any issue findings in systems accordingly.
- Reproduce issues and support further analysis.
- Report the updated failure solving status at issue tracking platforms.
- University degree in
or mechanical/automotive engineering
or sound/audio design
or similar engineering qualificationExperience
- Working experience at OEMs or suppliers for NVH, sound and aero-acoustic testing and development (including early development phases) preferred.
- Understanding of the market-specific preferences in terms of sound & vibration comfort including benchmarking.
- Familiarity with the China automotive supplier landscape and ecosystem.
- Familiarity with vehicle development process is an advantage (development phases, decision landscape).
- Familiarity with wind tunnel testing (aeroacoustics & aerodynamics) and/or sound design is helpful.
- Longer stay in Germany or abroad (business or education) is helpful.
- Solid knowledge of NVH, sound and aero-acoustic concepts.
- Profound knowledge in powertrain integration concepts (engine mounting, propeller shaft, mass damper, …).
- Familiarity with NVH material characteristics, component interactions, and functions.
- Sensitivity for issue detection, root cause analysis and system performance evaluation.
- Capability to evaluate test vehicles regarding NVH, sound and aero-acoustic behaviour (both in an objective and a subjective manner) under all conditions.
- Collect requirements and turn these requirements into specific concepts and target NVH descriptions to ensure the market-specific Mercedes-Benz sound character and vibroacoustic comfort. Drive the realization of these specifications.
- Support the technical powertrain integration process of market-specific requirements by initiating market-specific adaptations of the Mercedes-Benz user journey.
- Proficiency in using data acquisition systems and analysis software (e.g., LMS Test.Lab, Head Acoustics, PAK Artemis).
- Knowledge of advanced sound cancellation technique like Engine Order Cancellation (EOC).
- Develop and implement powertrain concepts for future vehicle platforms to meet stringent NVH targets.
- Collaborate with CAE simulation engineers (MBS, FEA, …) to design and optimize the vibroacoustic performance of the powertrain system and the vehicle.
- Perform vehicle-level NVH testing and analyze data to identify and resolve noise issues.
- Prepare the decision board meetings in interaction with module group speakers and component designers
- Integrate powertrain systems into vehicles, ensuring optimal NVH performance in alignment with the specbook performance targets and in exchange with emissions and fuel economy.
- Conduct vehicle-level testing and validation (on test benches and proving grounds) to identify and resolve integration issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (powertrain component, operating strategy, …) to design and develop the powertrain integration (engine mounting, propeller shaft, mass damper, …).
- Collaborate with simulation engineers to preselect testing variants or accelerate troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Experience with specific powertrain technologies (e.g., hybrid electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles, range extender vehicles, combustion engine vehicles).
- Teamwork spirit with excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Initiative and ability to work independently and self-responsibly.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools like PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Willingness to travel inside China and foreign countries.
- Fluent English and Chinese (oral, writing, listening and reading) is mandatory.
- German language knowledge is an advantage.
- Good driving skills.
