Data Warehouse Development Manager is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data warehouse systems and related data marts to enable businesses to integrate, consolidate, and analyse vast amounts of data from various sources. Their primary goal is to facilitate better decision-making and business intelligence by ensuring that data is accessible, reliable, and timely.Accountabilities:
1. Design data warehouse and implement data warehouse architecture, including data marts, data models, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
2. Develop data pipelines and workflows for ingesting data from various sources into the data warehouse.
3. Optimize and maintain data warehouse performance for efficient data querying and reporting.
4. Create and manage ETL processes to integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and consistency.
5. Develop and maintain data dictionaries, and documentation for data warehouse and ETL processes.
6. Implement data quality checks and balances to ensure accuracy and integrity of data within the warehouse.
7. Assist in the development of reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions that leverage the data warehouse.
8. Provide technical support to business analysts and data scientists in accessing and analysing data warehouse contents.
9. Monitor data warehouse systems to ensure optimal performance and availability.
10. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data warehouse performance, ETL processes, and data integrity.
11. Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications.
12. Collaborate with IT teams, including system developer, data engineers and archecturer, to ensure seamless integration and alignment with overall IT infrastructure.Role specific knowledge and experience:
1. Experience in data warehouse development, including designing and implementing data models, ETL processes, and data warehousing strategies.
2. Demonstrated ability to work on complex data integration projects and deliver solutions that meet business requirements.
3. Proven experience in SQL, database design, ETL tools (such as Informatica, Talend, or SSIS), and data modeling tools, and skilled in cloud data warehouse technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery) is a plus.
4. Proven experience in ETL processes for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading. Well-acquainted with prominent ETL tools such as SSIS and Kettle.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address data-related challenges and optimize data warehouse solutions.Role specific skills:
1. Good sense of business and operation logic, good communication skill and teamwork spirit.
2. Ability to drive issues to a robust closure in a timely manner.Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications in data warehousing technologies and tools are advantageous.
  • Language: The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required.
