We are seeking a highly accomplished Optical Process Equipment Engineer to join the newly-founded Display Engineering China team. As a key member of our China team, you will play a critical role in productizing display modules and systems that are central to delivering transformative experiences in AR products. Your expertise will be focused on tackling complex display integration and assembly challenges, developing optic module assembly process and tools, lamination process and tools, novel adhesive material development, and maturing these new processes from concept to ramp. You will bridge the gap between proof-of-concept to mass production, ensuring seamless integration into our product lines. You will excel in collaborative environments, working effectively with cross-functional teams, including optic, metrology, opto-mechanics, operations, quality, GSM, and suppliers. Your contributions will be critical to the success of our glass product lines, and we look forward to welcoming you to our China team.Display Process Equipment Engineer ResponsibilitiesDevelop, qualify, and implement equipment for optic modules and display systems,in particular, 6-axis optical assembly, and active optical alignment equipmentSpecify, integrate, and qualify in-tool adhesive dispense, cure, calibration, and verification systems in high-volume equipmentSupport and execute design reviews, tolerance analysis and FMEA reviews for complex precision automated equipmentDrive equipment development from DFM reviews thru implementing rigorous equipment FAT and SAT validation plansDevelop and maintain equipment and supporting documentation, including requirement specifications (ERS), Statements of Work (SOW), calibration procedures, and maintenance proceduresLead and drive the execution of equipment development and bring-up on-site, identify risks, drive Failure Analysis and corrective actions (FACA), and implement, yield, reliability, throughput, and up-time improvements across multiple buildsIdentify and implement UPH improvement and cost-saving opportunities through design, process, and equipment optimizationLead process discussions in factories and serve as the equipment interface between multiple functions (Optics, metrology, reliability engineering, Technical Operations, etc)Efficiently collaborate with cross-functional teams, especially the teams in the United States America on all aspects of product developmentMinimum QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Physics, or Optics Engineering or equivalent experience6+ years of experience in the development of assembly processes and equipment for display/optical imaging assemblies in consumer electronics devicesExperience in New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, including design for manufacturability, prototyping, and production ramp-up in consumer electronics industryExperience with optical adhesive, structural adhesives, active alignment adhesives, related dispenser technologies, surface preparation, dispense and cure optimizationExperience developing fully automated precision 6-axis alignment processes and equipment to optimize optical assembliesExperience setting up and implementing DOEs, data analysis, SPC control, Gauge R&R, root cause investigation, failure analysis, implement corrective actionExperience specifying and calibrating 2D and 3D optical metrology instruments and measurement methods, such as white light interferometry, confocal sensors, machine vision, etcExperience managing particle contamination and implementing contamination control for micron-sized particles in cleanrooms and inside automation equipmentExperience directing equipment development efforts at China equipment manufacturersCollaboration and Ambiguity: Proven skillset to handle ambiguity and collaborate effectively with large cross-functional teams and multilayer supply chainsExperience working across teams, including internal cross-functional engagements and external domestic/international vendor engagementsPreferred QualificationsExperience in 3D modeling/2D drafting using NX, ProE, or SolidWorksKnowledge of display quality metrics, basic optical aberrations, and test equipment used to measure optical performanceFamiliarity with minimizing equipment vibration through simulation, measurement, analysis and controlExperience developing active alignment equipment for light engines, camera modules, or similarExperience in developing processes and equipment for AR/VR applicationsExperience with precision optical assembly such as glass bonding, collimator lens assembly, and film laminationTrack record of delivering high volume products to the marketSkilled in evaluating and developing new technologies at external vendorsAbout MetaMeta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
