- Positions reporting directly to this position: Communications Coordinator. Plan, schedule, monitor and review work of subordinates.
- Develop and execute strategy and culture promotion framework for CCMC & CRDC Wuxi through diverse communication channels and tools.
- Provides leadership, direction and coaching to less experienced communications representatives. Leads the development and implementation of communication strategies and actions designed to meet customer needs while reinforcing organizational culture and leadership expectations. The incumbent is knowledgeable about company processes, systems and methodologies. Challenges, which can involve a high degree of risk, include exceeding expectations in delivering results, considering alternative courses of action and making timely decisions.
- The position spans a variety of areas of functional specialization within the communications function, working on multiple communications activities both internally and/or externally including culture, engagement, and change-related initiatives.
- The incumbent performs active consulting functions with one or more of the following: vice presidents, department directors, business process owners and other groups to support business alignment, culture engagement, and effective change communication.
- Communication vehicles utilized may include newsletters, Websites, WeChat official account, posters, displays, educational materials, videos, brochures, presentations, employee meetings, special events, news conferences, cascades, etc. The incumbent must have the ability to manage multiple complexes, high profile assignments under tight deadlines.
- Typical internal customers include various contacts throughout Caterpillar facilities (CCMC & CRDC Wuxi). External contacts include business media and vendors. The position is challenged to carefully evaluate problems and review possible solutions before selecting one option. Problems may be complex and can require the incumbent to develop solutions. The incumbent sets priorities and establishes a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results. Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Office Certification, etc.
- Limited travel required (less than 5% of working time).
- Good knowledge of Caterpillar’s business, policies, practices and procedures.
- A university degree or above in communications or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Five or more years of job-related experience are typically required, including a variety of cross-functional experience.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality, strong writing skills and experience, and excellent interpersonal skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside of the department.
- Demonstrated experience supporting organizational culture, employee engagement, or change initiatives through effective communication.
- Ability to model and promote a positive, inclusive, and values-based culture through daily interactions and leadership behaviors.
- Related Employee Resources Group leadership (employee community & clubs, etc.) experience will be preferred.
- Experience in leading teams with the ability to motivate and guide team members to work efficiently and achieve shared objectives.
