At Meta Reality Labs, we are developing the future of Wearables and Mixed Reality products and this team focuses on developing display and optics technologies for Meta products. Their mission is to create display systems that seamlessly blend the real and virtual realms. This involves designing the architecture and all display sub-systems for AR glasses based on leading technologies developed by Meta's teams. We work on creating advanced display technologies that are essential for AR and VR systems while having sub-teams who connect bits, electrons, photons, and experience for display products across wearables and the metaverse while focusing on display silicon architecture, applied perception studies, image quality, and defining the roadmap and long-term platform development strategy. Within Display and Optics team, we also aim to develop and implement test, characterization, metrology, and data solutions to support the creation of transparent display systems. As an Optical Metrology Engineer, you will be responsible for developing custom metrology solutions and implementing precise, robust, high-throughput, accurate metrology and test solutions for characterization, performance evaluations of materials, processes, and complex optical display devices.Optical Metrology Engineer ResponsibilitiesDevelop and enable metrology recipes, solutions and methods to collect a wide range of optical parameters both for imaging and non-imaging systems (e.g. luminance, uniformity, color, MTF, stray light, haze, absorption)Develop specification documents, engage with suppliers, identify custom instrumentation, fixtures, drive qualification, installation, enablement of new metrology solutionsQuality documentation, own, manage custom optical metrology systems, with focus towards tool health, data quality and integrityCollaborate with the larger team to develop, execute on test strategy, provide critical metrology data insights for optical design verification, validation and experimentationIdentify equipment issues and cross-functional work with internal and external partners and vendors to assure optimal tool-fleet performanceManage external partnership with vendors and instrument manufacturers to define test plans from research, development to productionDevelop test plans based on component and level requirements to ensure process capability, product performance and instrument validationsDrive method transfers to internal and external partners to support technology research, exploration and developmentMinimum QualificationsMaster's Degree and experience in Optical Sciences, Physics, Engineering or related field2+ years of relevant experience in optical component performance measurement, testing, and characterization, including spectroscopy and evaluation in controlled lab or cleanroom environmentsFamiliarity with optical metrology tools such as interferometry or image quality testing (wavefront sensing, MTF and spectroscopy)Preferred QualificationsPhD degree or equivalent experience in Optical Sciences or Physics or related field multiple years' experience in applied research and/or product development of advanced optics or photonic systems4+ years of demonstrated expertise in optical components performance metrology, testing, optical characterization, spectroscopy, and evaluation in a lab or cleanroom settingKnowledge of a broad range of optics including imaging, illumination, radiometry and photometry, geometric optics, statistics, and polarizationHands-on experience, willing to work in labs, cleanrooms and in setting up high quality and reliable optical metrology and inspection systemsKnowledge in Design, Assembly and Automation, testing and deployment of test and metrology toolsWell versed on standard tools and methods for measurement system automation at lab level including LabView, Matlab and or PythonExpertise in profilometry, interferometry, distortion measurements, MTF testing, spectrophotometry, wavefront sensing, laser-scanningKnowledge and experience with color science, colorimetry, and visual optics.
