Learn More: https://www.mathworks.com/company/jobs/resources/applying-and-interviewing.html#onboarding.As an Application Engineer you will work directly, sometimes in great depth, with customers to understand their technical and business challenges and help them appreciate the value that MathWorks products bring toward resolving their problems.Using your knowledge and experience in the fields of Battery Modeling and Simulation, Model-Based Design, you will establish credibility in positioning the value and capabilities of our products in customer meetings, conference calls, delivery of seminars, working with software, electrical and mechanical engineering customers to help them advance their ability to develop and analyze their systems from detailed simulation to algorithm deployment to hardware to develop a shared vision for success with customers and prospects. Through technical know-how, strong presentation skills and strong interpersonal skills are key ingredients in your success in this role.You will develop and execute the account plan to drive increased adoption of MATLAB and Simulink products across the different divisions and segments of the automotive customer.You will collaborate with the sales organization, technical marketing, engineering, and other teams at MathWorks to coordinate the technical engagement, develop and execute the account strategy and through these efforts generate new business and contribute to the long-term success with your account.MathWorks nurtures growth, appreciates inclusivity, encourages initiative, values teamwork, shares success, and rewards excellence.
  • Providing technical pre-sales support and guidance to our sales organization and customers in China in the fields of Battery Modeling and Simulation, Production Code Generation, model verification and validation, and certification for safety critical system design (ISO 26262, IEC 61508)
  • Be the technical point of contact for the account, coordinating all MathWorks engineering resources, to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Engage with prospective customers to understand their workflows and recommend effective solutions.
  • Develop demonstrations including programs, application examples, and simulations to demonstrate how MathWorks software addresses the needs of its customers.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and demonstrations at both small and large audience venues.
  • Partner with sales representatives to provide technical guidance for selling strategies toward successful achievement of sales goals.
  • Advocate for the strategic direction of MathWorks products based on customer interactions.
  • Identify new application areas and work with development and marketing to build compelling messaging and demonstrations
  • MS or Ph.D. in electrochemistry engineering, mathematics, computer science, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with battery modeling and simulation or hands-on battery experience.
  • Experience developing Battery Management Systems
  • Experience in Model-Based Design using MATLAB and Simulink,
  • Familiarity with system modeling and simulation for electrification.
  • Experience developing and verifying simulation models for the purpose of control design, component sizing, and system performance evaluation.
  • Some programming experience (Simscape Language, C, C++, VHDL, etc.).
  • Significant experience in Model-Based Design using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • This position is based in Shanghai with travel generally throughout China specific to various customer visits and seminars. Travel time can be expected to amount to approximately 25-50% with trips on working days. Though far less frequent, some international travel is expected.
