Job descriptionSome careers have more impact than others.If you're looking for a career where you can make a real impression, join HSBC and discover how valued you'll be.We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering.Business: Enterprise Technology L3Principal responsibilities:Design and develop a pure cloud native system in accordance with engineering best practicesDesign and develop automatic testingDevelop the necessary toolchains' to support our own developmentPerform peer reviews for your teammates' design and codeEnsure proper and sufficient documentationGive show & tell for the features you work onCoordinate with other systems to carry out E2E testingSince we are taking a DevOps approach, you will also need to monitor and support the system you developKeep learning new technology and best practicesRequirements
  • Be a quick learner and interested in learning new things as we are sure you don't know every the technology we are using
  • Have a engineering mindset that strive for doing things the best way
  • Have sufficient English skills to properly communicate your thinking with your peers and understand business requirement correctly
  • Have a habit of writing readable and easy to maintain code. We are not looking for a computer scientist but we are looking for a software engineer
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • Analytical and logical thinking
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of data structures & practical algorithms
  • Experience with automated testing
  • Solid & up-to-date knowledge on Java fundamentals or any other object-oriented language
