Associate Director, Software Engineering
- Guangzhou, Guangdong
- Contract
- Full-time
- This team is building new components to handle STP booking of IRD products from electronic venues into our trade workflow and primary trading systems (replacing functions currently performed using vendor technology). We are partnering with our FX eRisk team to use inhouse technology for implementing resilient, distributed low latency trading components operating 24 x 5.5 in multiple trading markets/regions.
- The team has approx. 7 developers in Poland, China and Canada and your role will be to work alongside the PM and technical SME and to technically lead the development team, taking them forward after the current oversight of the eRisk tech leads.
- This role will be a hands on development/software engineering role. In addition, everything you and the team build will be a production trading system and you will need to have ownership and accountability for ensuring observability, metrics and monitoring are in place and constantly evolved to support live trading. A product/production mindset is essential as well as development lead skills.
- In MSS IT we work directly and closely with the business - product owers, traders, sales people and middle office/operations staff. Communication with these stakeholders is essential and you will need to be able to work out requirements and details with them.
- HSBC and MSS operate in a regulated environment and there are many IT controls teams are responsible for in the systems they build. Our approach is to automate these controls (e.g. vulnerability scanning, access controls, disaster recovery, change requests and deployment etc.) and part of your role will be to ensure this happens for this team.
