C.H. Robinson is seeking a Manager Software Engineering to join our software development team. In this key position, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team responsible for building software functionality into our application platform/integrating 3rd party software into existing platform. You will help lead conversations with cross functional leaders to ensure projects are delivered on time and oversee bringing technical and business priorities into one plan, understanding upstream and downstream dependencies while providing written and verbal reporting on progress to plan.At C.H. Experience the full benefits of teamwork and immediate collaboration in a vibrant and engaging workplace.Responsibilities:The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:Work with product/business owners to develop strategy around individual features and ensure the team is aligned to our goalsCollaborate with cross functional technical leaders to bring projects from discovery phases into productionIdentify and create ongoing value for our business through iterative delivery against assigned business goals and product visionPartner with stakeholders and technical teams throughout the organization to create a vision for our capabilities and strategy for achieving the visionOversee bringing technical and business priorities into one plan, understanding upstream and downstream dependencies while providing written and verbal reporting on progress to planEnsure each initiative is staffed appropriately to meet end goals and resource appropriately, including securing resources across multiple teamsFollow enterprise goals around HPI's (critical/major outages)Ensure that auditing for monitors and alerts are properly setup when the software doesn't operate as intendedUtilize AppDynamics for monitoring dashboardsEnforce code review processAddress production issues with a sense of urgencyEnsure we are hitting quarterly commitsEnsure we resolve bugs within identified LOSManage escalated issuesDefine, document, communicate, and drive efficient processes and software development best practices by collaborating across C.H. Robinson, engaging with architects, product managers, project managers, software engineers, and leadersMaintain and communicate crisp measures that quantify progress against our goals and objectives through effective presentations and score cardingTeam LeadershipOrganize team to effectively get work doneDrive and communicate to the team on role accountabilities, KPI’s, goals and service level agreementsFocus on team cycle time of cardsHelp set timelines for features and deliverables for the teamAccountable for project deadlines and enforcing team member accountability and sense of urgency to the team projectsActively assess performance and providing coaching/feedback to team members to sustain a high performing team and taking action on performance improvement plans as neededEvaluate talent needs and fills these needs through developing internal bench strength and/or hiring, and onboardingEffectively communicate by leveraging proper cadence of meetings (1:1’s, team meetings, etc.)Understand business and tech enterprise goals and then work with Group Manager/Director to establish team goals and cascade to direct reportsDiscuss and promote career development to build employee engagementProvide input to ensure rewards and recognition are appropriately allocated based on individual and team performance/commitmentManage annual merit programs for assigned team to align compensation with performance resultsIf applicable, provide support and input to the budget for the capability area and make recommendations that balance timely project delivery and cost effectivenessFoster continuous learning, accountability, and innovation, striving for engineering excellenceOther duties or responsibilities as assigned according to the team and/or country specific requirementsRequired Qualifications:Required:Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 4 years of equivalent work experience and a high school diploma/GEDMinimum 5 years of experience working in a technology role such as: software engineer, business analyst, quality assurance analyst, product manager, or technology project managerMinimum 2 years of experience leading a teamExperience delivering business critical software functionalityExperience delivering software in an agile environmentPreferred Qualifications:Preferred:Experience with software engineering concepts, such as relational databases, asynchronous data movement, object‑oriented programming, CI/CD (continuous integration / continuous deployment) practices, and/or distributed systemsStrategic orientation/planning, business savvy, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skillsStrong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust, influence, and foster relationships with diverse team members; able to leverage relationships to drive consistency of approach and ensure deliveryEqual OpportunityC.H.
