About the roleThe Formulation Development Scientist leads new product development by developing formulations and/or providing analysis and evaluation of material and products at all stages of the development process, considering scientific and timing objectives. This individual would have various levels of involvement and leadership in the development of formulation to meet China Oral Health market business needs. The Scientist will also support the R&D project team through development, scale-up, manufacturing and launch for various brand products complied with regulatory requirement of China.This role also plays as RD core lead in project team to coordinate with QSC / commercial core lead together to be responsible for project delivery. She/He will report to Oral NPD Lead directly.Key responsibilities
  • Lead product development work technically in driving innovation opportunities of Sensodyne, parodontax, Polident etc.
  • Prepare and execute the project development plan by closely working with internal cross functional team and/or external business partners.
  • Draft/ review/ approve the related raw material/process/product spec.
  • Ensures all research work meet internal procedure and external regulatory requirement.
  • Explores the external innovation idea, participates the third-party due diligence work and be responsible for technical related assessment & improvement.
  • Develop/validate the test method to support product development or claim substantiation work.
  • Demo development. Design/develop robust/differentiate study to demonstrate the product superiority of product.
  • Provide scientific input for consumer study design and report based on deep consumer understanding and product technical knowledge.
Qualifications and skillsEssential
  • Above BS degree, prefer MS or Ph.D. degree; Chemistry/Material/Pharmaceutical or related science
  • 3+ years (BS); 2+ years (MS) experience in NPD/Formulation development.
  • Oral care experience is must and toothpaste product development experience preferred.
  • Deep understanding for product development process and commercial environment.
  • Ability to apply scientific principles and techniques to assigned projects.
  • Demonstrate proficiency to connect consumer needs to product development.
  • Be proactive & logical thinking.
  • Proven demonstration to take initiative, think and work independently, problem-solving, work effectively in teams, and multitask.
  • An ability to organize and report study data from internal and external sources.
  • Understanding of statistics and its application to experimental work.
Preferred
  • Knowledge to use Microsoft office software
  • Fluent in English both verbal and written
