Sr. Associate Director, Software Engineering

- Manage direct reports (Role definition, hiring, objective setting, performance reviews, performance ratings)
- Budget planning and managing budgets,

- Owner of all key implementation decisions
- Ensure all non-Functional requirements for the platform meet Business needs and BCP requirements
- Ensure the Alibaba Cloud platform meets operational Risk framework to manage business risk
- Ensure all relevant architecture governance, policy, and standards are met
- Own engineering operating model (Agile, Waterfall etc.) and tools (Jira, GSD, Confluence)
- Represent the Alibaba Cloud platform in discussions with internal IT partners and Alibaba
- Maintain and manage all engineering information and knowledge bases for the Alibaba Cloud Platform and key implementation decisions
- Provide Management reporting to ensure data driven discussions for continuous improvement
- Gather requirements and provide continuous feedback loops between customer and Engineering teams
- Have worked as an Engineering Lead in an enterprise organization
- Have managed people
- Demonstrable knowledge of Non-Functional Requirements
- Demonstrable Cloud service provider experience - infrastructure build and configurations of a variety of services including Compute, Containers, Container OS and Container orchestration (E.g. Docker, COS, GKE) Storage, IAM, SDN (VPC and XPN)
- Experience of working with Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD) and continuous testing techniques and tools
- An understanding of physical and Software defined Networks
- An understanding of Identity and Access management principles and tools
- An understanding of role-based access controls and organizational hierarchies
- An understanding of Operating systems
- An understanding of container technologies
- Experience in working in a global cross functional service management team
- Experience in dealing with multiple support groups in a supply chain
- Have worked in an enterprise Financial Services company
- Customer/stakeholder focus. Ability to build strong relationships with Application teams, cross functional IT and global/local IT teams

- Understanding the technologies and products of other Cloud Providers (eg. GCP, AWS, Azure)
- Technical knowledge (Directory Services, Alibaba Cloud Identity, Physical Networking, Firewalls, SDN, XPN, Billing, Operating Systems, Containers, GCP Resource Hierarchy)
- Experience operating in highly regulated industry, e.g. Financial Services
- Understanding of generative AI technology, including the use of various large language models (LLMs) and Agentic AI, along with practical knowledge of use cases and implementation approaches.
