Learn More: https://www.mathworks.com/company/jobs/resources/applying-and-interviewing.html#onboarding.As an Application Engineer you will work directly, sometimes in great depth, with customers to understand their technical and business challenges and help them appreciate the value that MathWorks products bring toward resolving their problems.Using your knowledge and experience in the fields of Model-Based Design and Certifications, you will establish credibility in positioning the value and capabilities of our products in customer meetings, conference calls, delivery of seminars, and in product demonstrations to develop a shared vision for success with customers and prospects. Through technical know-how, strong presentation skills and strong interpersonal skills are key ingredients in your success in this role.You will understand and be able to effectively communicate the benefits of the Model-Based Design environment based on MATLAB and Simulink, and involve yourself in supporting and driving pre-sales activities primarily at eVTOL, home appliances, Industrial Automation & Machinery industry, medical and automotive customers to promote and support the adoption of workflows that enable automatic production code generation and verification based on products such as Embedded Coder, Simulink Requirements, Simulink Check, Simulink Coverage, Simulink Test, Simulink Design Verifier, Polyspace, DO Qualification Kit(for DO-178,DO-278,DO-254), IEC Certification Kit (for ISO 26262, IEC 62304 and IEC 61508) and so on.MathWorks nurtures growth, appreciates inclusivity, encourages initiative, values teamwork, shares success, and rewards excellence.
  • Providing technical pre-sales support and guidance to our sales organization and customers in China in the fields of Production Code Generation, model verification and validation, and certification for safety critical system design (DO-178, DO-254, ISO 26262, IEC 62304, and IEC 61508)
  • Working with prospective commercial customers to understand their workflows and using this knowledge to build successful technical sales strategies.
  • Leveraging product knowledge and industry experience to give sound recommendations to customers and prospects on how solutions from MathWorks can improve the results of their product development process.
  • Preparing and delivering product presentations and demonstrations for customer meetings and to larger audiences at public and private seminars, webinars, and other events.
  • Develop demonstration programs, application examples, and proof-of-concept models. These are generally used to illustrate the value of our offerings based on typical customer applications.
  • Managing product evaluations - Prospective customers may require guidance on how to evaluate our products to prove their value within the construction of a feasibility project.
  • Working closely with the worldwide MathWorks application engineering, development, and marketing organizations to identify new prospects, new application areas based on customer interactions, and to develop and refine accurate and compelling messaging targeting the marketplace.
  • Skills of embedded system engineering, experience with embedded software development (C/C++)
  • Significant experience in Model-Based Design using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, Simulink Control Design, Embedded Coder.
  • Very strong knowledge of Model-Based Design process and its implications for software development is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of delivering presentations for highly technical audiences
  • Highly motivated toward working directly with customers
  • This position is based in Shanghai with travel generally throughout China specific to various customer visits and seminars. Travel time can be expected to amount to approximately 25-50% with trips on working days. Though far less frequent, some international travel is expected.
  • Additional embedded software design experience in eVTOL,home appliances, Industrial Automation & Machinery industry and/or Medical is a strong plus;
  • Experience with a broad set of MathWorks products (including Stateflow, Simulink Coder, Simulink Requirements, Simulink Check, Simulink Coverage, Simulink Test, and Simulink Design Verifier) is a strong plus
  • Knowledge of static and/or dynamic code verification tools (especially Polyspace), system level modelling environments, and real-time systems are strong pluses
  • Experience developing safety-critical systems according to standards such as DO-178/DO-254 (Aerospace), ISO 26262 (Automotive), IEC 62304 (Medical Device), and/or IEC 61508 (Industrial Automation) is a plus.
