This is your invitation to rise above the possible.Job posting end date:This position is responsible for engineering related to customers in China and links with the global product and technology functions.This includes the technical sales support through the provision of required drawings, data sheets and details for estimating and the completion of engineering tasks as part of the order execution process for customer orders.This position leads the engineering activities and is the first point of contact within the products group for engineering requests related to machines in the field which includes troubleshooting and warranty support, but also the customer support through upgrade design work.As part of the link to the global product and technology functions this role is involved in knowledge transfer to and from China including the technical support of localizing manufacture into China whilst adhering to screening BL global rules and governance.This position is responsible to lead the activities for the accurate creation and maintenance of engineering data related to customer orders and in field equipment including calculations, drawings, BOMs, technical specifications, and equipment releases as well as relevant safety records (e.g. CE and safety in design). As part of this responsible this role may directly interact with engineering resources and or supervise resources in China.Initially the focus will be on knowledge transfer and product support for China localization and over time will transform into a customer centric engineering function focus on support and order execution.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Engineering processes, knowledge transfer and product support for China localization
  • Contribute to the definition of global standard engineering processes whilst ensuring regional requirements to interfaces with other parts outside of Screening BL are maintained
  • Act as link between global product and technology functions to transfer knowledge of Metso product portfolio and design philosophy to the SCB team in China and identify any requirements to meet local market demands
  • Support the knowledge and product transfer of Saimu technology to support business outside of China - this includes the verification of Saimu technology meeting safety in design requirements
  • Support the localization of sales and manufacture of the Metso product portfolio in China
  • Technical sales support
  • Review of client specifications and creation of technical exception registers and where necessary consultation with the relevant product manager to ensure the region is offering equipment in line with the defined product standards
  • Provision of technical details to support tenders and proposals including proposal drawings and data sheets
  • Estimation of engineering hours to complete projects
  • Technical risk assessment to limit exposure to Metso, escalation to the relevant product manager of any high risk tenders and proposals
  • Customer order execution
  • Be part of the order acceptance process and contribute to process improvements
  • Planning and execution of customer orders in line with agreed standards for scheduling, timesheets, etc.
  • Execution of engineering design including relevant calculations, risk assessments (e.g. Safety in Design, CE conformity), etc.
  • Provision of arrangement and detail drawings including the provision of Bill of Materials through SAP for order execution by the supply team.
  • Technical order support including the assessment of vendor concessions including escalation to the relevant product manager if necessary
  • In field equipment support
  • Manage incoming technical queries and provide engineering solutions, attend site for trouble shooting if necessary
  • Provide in depth engineering root cause analysis including escalation to the relevant product manager if necessary
  • Ensure all in field upgrades and modifications are supported, managed and as built records are maintained
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Technical training (MSc, BSc, Engineering) •
  • Language skills: Fluent English and Mandarin required, other language skills are seen as a bonus
  • 5 years or more experience in a lead role within a design office environment.
  • 5 years or more experience on related products and services. Possess a deep understanding of the product and their applications
  • Proven track record of leading change
  • Will to take ownership and carry responsibility
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to network and interact with a wide range of people with different backgrounds
  • Ability to travel regularly
