- Understanding of assigned categories: analyzing the market, preparing sourcing strategies, utilization of a formal RFP process with implementation and tracking of results.
- Development and formal execution of global procurement strategies and best practices associated with bidding, negotiation, and supplier development.
- Sourcing of assigned materials on a global basis and defining a global strategic approach together with the Global Category Leader team.
- Identification, attaining commitment, and implementation of cost-out improvement opportunities to create structural and sustained advantages.
- Development of “should cost” and “make versus buy” financial models which provide predictive analysis to support decision making.
- Provide forward looking guidance on trends, threats, and opportunities throughout the complete feedstock and supply chain.
- Development of contingency and risk mitigation plans.
- Building positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Support of new supplier qualifications to expand the supply base.
- Utilizing e-technologies (i.e,..e-RFP’s, Internet searches, reverse auctions, etc.)
- Ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety, and Responsible Care programs.
- Experience globalizing contracts and pricing.
- Capability to develop suppliers from low-cost countries/regions.
- Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a geographically distributed organization.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Working knowledge of SAP.
- Excellent organization capabilities and project management skills.
- Data analysis skills - Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point and their higher-level functions such as pivot tables, v-look, formulas, etc.
- Problem solving skills.
- Ability to identify, understand and provide prioritization of actions to all elements of the organization.
- Ability to work in a very diverse and matrixed environment across a broad group of multi-functional stakeholders.
