- Align and define sound experience & sound system performance targets and develop respective frameworks together within RD China and the global RD network
- Communicate and drive the implementation of the China-specific sound & experience in vehicle projects (via Project groups, Commodity groups, Function integration groups). Provide input to functional and module strategies (China Requirement Working Groups, collaboration within global RD network).
- Prepare and align NVH, sound & staging release documentation
- Develop, adjust and validate NVH, sound & experience testing procedures to meet major use cases in China in order to evaluate and release the NVH, sound & experience performance.
- Identify most appropriate and customer-related parameters based on field research, customer observation and feedback.
- Plan and prepare the required vehicles, parts and resources.
- Conduct NVH, sound & experience tests according to Mercedes-Benz standards and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate tests on test benches and test facilities of GRC and 3rd parties.
- Organize evaluation drives and management drives.
- Create test reports and regularly present testing progress in relevant committees.
- Proper documentation of any issue findings in systems accordingly.
- Reproduce issues and support further analysis.
- Report the updated failure solving status at issue tracking platforms.

or similar engineering qualificationExperience
- Working experience at OEMs or suppliers for NVH, sound and aero-acoustic testing and development (including early development phases) preferred.
- Sound system development and sound system tuning
- Active noise cancellation technologies
- Familiarity with EE architectures
- Familiarity with the China automotive supplier landscape and ecosystem.
- Understanding of the market-specific preferences in terms of sound & vibration comfort.
- Familiarity with sound system component development coordination.
- Familiarity with vehicle development process is an advantage (development phases, decision landscape).
- Familiarity with wind tunnel testing (aeroacoustics & aerodynamics) and/or sound design is helpful.
- Longer stay in Germany or abroad (business or education) is helpful.
- Profound knowledge of sound system development and sound system tuning
- Profound knowledge of active noise cancellation technologies (RNC, EOC, …)
- Solid knowledge of NVH, sound and aero-acoustic concepts.
- Profound knowledge in automotive sound design.
- Experience with digital signal and audio processing & analysis tools.
- Capability to evaluate vehicles regarding vehicle sound design, infotainment acoustic vehicle alerting system, road noise cancellation, staging, immersive experience, smart communication (both in an objective and a subjective manner).
- Sensitivity for issue detection, root cause analysis and system performance evaluation.
- Collect requirements and turn these requirements into specific concepts and target sound descriptions to ensure the market-specific Mercedes-Benz sound character. Drive the realization of these specifications.
- Support the technical and creative sound design process of market-specific requirements by initiating market-specific adaptations of the Mercedes-Benz user journey.
- Experience with acoustic measurement techniques (e.g., sound intensity, sound pressure level, reciprocal measurements, beam forming, …).
- Proficiency in using data acquisition systems and analysis software (e.g., LMS Test.Lab, Head Acoustics).
- Create and implement innovative sound designs for vehicle platforms, including powertrain (Engine Sound Synthesis, …), Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (warning sounds, …), and user interfaces."
- Conduct system releases based on a System Validation Plan (SVP) along with test reports as documentation of the release-relevant tests (including certification-relevant systems like AVAS, …)
- Ensure the quality of acoustic sound reproduction by doing functional tests and calibrations of the sound system
- Develop interactive audio and immersive experience (driving experience, multisensory experience, …) for various vehicle platforms (e.g., hybrid electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles, range extender vehicles, combustion engine vehicles)
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to define the sonic identity of our vehicles.
- Conduct user testing and customer studies to evaluate the effectiveness and appeal of sound designs.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in sound design and audio engineering.
- Knowledge of user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design principles is a plus.
- Ensure high-quality infotainment sound in our vehicles (verify and fine-tune sound reproduction, fade, equalizer, sound focus, bass characteristics, sound tuning, in-car communication,…)
- Co-design staging scopes such as ambient styles, emotional modes, welcome & goodbye scenarios, ...
- Teamwork spirit with excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Initiative and ability to work independently and self-responsibly.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools like PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Willingness to travel inside China and foreign countries.
- Fluent English and Chinese (oral, writing, listening and reading) is mandatory.
- German language knowledge is an advantage.
- Good driving skills.
