This critical role is accountable for driving technological advancement, fostering deep external partnerships and industry value chain ecosystem development, spearheading total solution oriented local product and application development to enhance our competitive position in the region. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with business acumen and strong technical background, exceptional relationship-building skills and a proven ability to translate market insights into winning technology solutions.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build up regional technology platforms with clear product/application roadmap aligned with our business STRAP
- Develop and execute a comprehensive regional technology strategy aligned with the global technology roadmap and specific APAC market needs.
- Identify emerging technologies, trends and disruptions within the region and access the potential impact and opportunities.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Drive external Innovation & Customer Centric Technology
- Proactively identify, initiate and manage collaborative innovation projects with key customers to co-develop solutions, applications and processes that address their unmet needs.
- Establish and nurture a high-level network of CTOs and technology leaders within key customer organizations, strategic suppliers and value chain partners across the region.
- Foster deep technical collaboration across the value chain (suppliers to end users) to drive joint innovation, improve process efficiency and develop sustainable solutions.
- Actively scout for external innovation (startups, academia, research institutes) relevant to our business and facilitate partnerships or technology acquisition.
- Local Product Development & Competitiveness
- Drive the development and commercialization of new and improved products tailored to the unique requirements and regulations of APAC markets.
- Oversee the adaptation of global product platforms and technologies to meet specific regional customer needs, regulatory standards and manufacturing realities.
- Provide deep technical expertise to support the commercial team in winning key business and solving complex customer problems.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
- Serve as the primary technology focal point to customers, partners, industry associations and regulators in the region.
- Effectively communicate the regional technology vision, strategy and progress to global leadership, regional management and other key stakeholders.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with commercial, manufacturing and supply chain leaders within the region.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to regional R&D, product development and technical support teams and foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer science or related scientific field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in senior technology leadership roles within the chemical industry.
- Strong understanding of technology trends within the chemical industry, including process automation, data analytics, and digital transformation.
- Experience in driving technology initiatives and managing large-scale projects specific to the chemical industry.
- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and the ability to translate technology into competitive advantage.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills and ability to influence at all levels internally and externally.
- Proven ability to build and leverage high-level strategic networks with CTOs, technology leaders and R&D heads at customers, suppliers and partners.
- Deep experience in managing the full product development lifecycle from ideation to commercialization.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to technology in the chemical industry.
- Experience in managing budgets, resources, and timelines within the context of a chemical company.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment within the chemical industry.
