ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment and Retention:
- Participate in the recruitment and hiring of design organization staff.
- Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of technology specialty.
- Coach and mentor design team staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer for technology specialty ( SI, Power, Software, Firmware, etc).
- Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine operational metrics, results against project timelines, knowledge of operational roles and responsibilities, personal development goals.
- Drive individuals and the teams to continuously improve in key metrics and the achievement of the organizational goals.
- Coordinate activities of specialty teams and keep them focused in times of crises.
- Provide a communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information within the sector/department for technology specialty.
- Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style.
- Ask questions; encourage input from team and project members.
- Assess communication style of individual team members and teams than adapt own communication style accordingly.
Business Strategy and Direction:
- Know and understand the architecture team strategic directions at both a project and sector/company level.
- Provide regular updates to System Architect(s) and DMS Engineering management on the execution of the strategy and projects.
- Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems).
- Utilize tools to monitor project and sector/departmental cost and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value.
- Provide feedback to peers, project Team members and DMS Engineering management on cost and cost trends.
- Manage creation and submission of project proposals and quotations responses.
- Develop and maintain the processes and methods for architecture development & documentation, technology specialty design & documentation, R&D technology roadmaps and requirements engineering.
- Identify internal and external resources that can support the architecture and product development cycles.
- Learn component, circuit, product, and process level technologies to support the overall direction of architecture, product design and development.
- Support the definition of Product Realization Proposals, System Specifications, Architecture, PRD, MRD, design reviews, test plans, integration plans, etc., in collaboration with senior technical staff and Customers.
- Guide and oversee the development of systems/products architecture specialties to maintain the consistency and integrity of the product/architecture.
- Architect and guide, analysis and simulation activities necessary to determine performance, reliability, bandwidth and other system product design characteristics
- Help provide the lowest cost solution that meets the customer needs and expectations. Including concept, functional features, system architecture, components, and design process.
- Architect requirements for engineering activities in support of technology, platform and product development.
- Architect the development and implementation of platform and product architectures in collaboration with senior technical development staff.
- Guide and oversee the development of system component requirements, interfaces, and specifications necessary to maintain the consistency and integrity of the product architectures.
- Oversee product design and documentation at a system specialty level.
- Work to develop partners and suppliers, when applicable, to provide the best solution.
- Build Jabil competency; make Jabil expers in technologies specialties needed for the Compute & Storage space.
- Work with specific regional design centers to enhance overall technology specialty capabilities.
- Help sell the services and when applicable, the products for JTS.
- Make Jabil shine in customer interaction; for example on RFI/RFQ response documentation and kickoff meetings.
- As Jabil Architect, work with peers and Engineering Development Teams to develop detailed product design specifications and drive implementation.
- Work in industry and consortiums to enhance Jabil capability and promote Jabil name.
- Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
- Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Ability to read, analyze, interpret and communicate regarding common scientific and/or technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to operate a personal computer including using a Windows based operating system and related software.
- Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil’s software packages.
- Ability to write simple correspondence. Read and understand visual aid.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
- Bachelor’s degree, in Engineering with a minimum of eight (8) plus years experience required; MSEE preferred.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
