- Global/Regional Responsibility: Oversee hardware components categories (commercial and customized hardware) to drive cost optimization, commonality, value engineering, and supplier performance.
- Procurement Strategy: Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with technology roadmaps, competitive benchmarking, supplier base rationalization, and pricing models for hardware components.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Act as primary liaison with hardware suppliers to negotiate contracts, establish business frameworks, conduct performance reviews, and manage supplier development programs.
- NPI & Cost Management: Lead bid activities, cost analysis, and sourcing for new product introductions (NPI), ensuring seamless supply continuity while achieving cost-effective hardware solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interface closely with hardware design, engineering, and product development teams to align technical specifications with sourcing strategies.
- Critical Issue Resolution: Manage hardware supply shortages, constrained material strategies, and system-wide changes impacting procurement execution.
- Process Innovation: Drive process improvements, develop IT tools (e.g., ERP, PLM integrations), and implement best practices for hardware sourcing efficiency.
- Prototyping & Production Support: Enable quick-turn prototyping, NPI, and batch production by coordinating with suppliers on hardware tooling, certifications, and quality compliance.
- PSL Alignment: Collaborate with preferred supplier lists (PSL) to meet hardware quality, cost, and delivery targets, supporting product lifecycle needs.
- Supplier Development: Cultivate strategic suppliers for direct hardware commodities, focusing on technical capability, scalability, and innovation.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of hardware component design, manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, die-casting, injection molding), and material science (metals, plastics, composites).
- Cost Analysis: Proficiency in dissecting pricing structures (tooling, unit costs, NRE fees) and identifying cost drivers for hardware RFQs.
- Negotiation Mastery: Strong command of negotiation tactics to secure favorable terms, SLAs, and intellectual property protections.
- Time-to-Market Focus: Prioritize speed and agility in sourcing to meet hardware development timelines.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, supplier landscapes, and emerging technologies impacting hardware supply chains.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), DFM/DFA principles, and hardware certification standards (e.g., UL, RoHS).
- Analytical Rigor: Strong data analysis skills to evaluate supplier performance, cost models, and risk metrics.
- Communication: Articulate complex hardware requirements to cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers.
- Multitasking: Thrive in fast-paced environments with overlapping priorities and tight deadlines.
- EMS/Hardware Manufacturing Background: Minimum 5 years of sourcing/SCM experience in electronics manufacturing services (EMS), contract manufacturing (CM), or hardware-centric industries.
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in strategic sourcing, supplier development, and cost reduction for mechanical/hardware components.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical/commercial discipline.
- Preferred: Certifications in supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) or advanced training in hardware sourcing/negotiation.
