The increasingly complex projects that clients bring to us demand a culture built on collaboration, creativity, and innovation in design thinking and delivery.Openness and empathy with our clients ensure their interests are at the heart of everything we design.Job DescriptionWe're looking for an Associate to join our Shanghai studio-a talented Landscape Architect who's ready to lead small-to-medium projects, guide teams, and help shape places that improve how we live, work and connect.This role is focused on leading high-quality landscape and urban design projects across commercial, cultural, and mixed-use precincts in China and the broader region. You'll collaborate across disciplines, contribute to winning work, and bring a clear design point of view backed by built experience.You'll play a key leadership role in our practice by:Leading small to mid-sized project teams and initiatives-managing scope, design quality and commercial performanceDeveloping client relationships, contributing to bids and proposals, and supporting business developmentActing as a trusted professional, guiding projects from early strategy through to detailed design and deliverySupporting the growth of others-mentoring team members and creating development opportunitiesQualificationsYou have 10+ years of experience in landscape architecture across a range of sectors, with strong project leadership skills and a solid understanding of both design quality and delivery.You're someone who:Brings a clear design voice-communicating ideas with clarity and creativityHas a track record of built work aligned to high-quality, sustainable design thinkingThinks strategically, engaging diverse perspectives to shape project outcomesUnderstands the balance between technical excellence and design ambitionEnjoys leading, mentoring and enabling others to growThrives in collaborative teams, contributing to a positive and productive studio cultureCommunicates confidently with clients and stakeholders-adapting to their needs, building trust and delivering with impactIs commercially minded, keeping projects on track and helping identify future opportunitiesBonus if you're bilingual in English and Mandarin.You'll have experience with tools like Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, BIM, and other 3D and documentation platforms.Additional InformationHassell is a multidisciplinary design studio with a focus on places people love.
