The Embassy in Beijing is seeking a skilled and proactive Media Officer to lead its media and communications efforts. This role marks a strategic shift from relying solely on external agencies to building in-house capabilities for media engagement, content creation, and public communication.Media Strategy & Planning
  • Develop and implement media strategies to enhance the embassy's visibility and reputation.
  • Align media initiatives with diplomatic and public affairs goals.
Content Creation & Press Releases
  • Draft press releases, official statements, and media materials.
  • Create engaging content for traditional and digital media platforms.
Media Monitoring & Analysis
  • Track media coverage and public sentiment.
  • Analyze trends and adjust communication strategies accordingly.
Media Liaison
  • Build and maintain relationships with local and international media outlets.
  • Serve as the primary contact for media inquiries and interview coordination.
Event & Crisis Communication
  • Organize press conferences and media coverage for embassy events.
  • Develop crisis communication plans and respond to sensitive media situations.
Social Media Management
  • Manage the embassy's social media presence.
  • Curate and publish content that reflects the embassy's mission and activities.
Embassy cultureHigh level exposure
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
  • Proven experience in media relations, public affairs, or journalism
  • Strong writing and editing skills in English; proficiency in Chinese is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with China's media landscape and digital platforms
  • Ability to work effectively in a diplomatic and multicultural environment
  • Knowledge of Arabic is a plus
