The role blends global technical leadership with local China accountability, acting as the single medical science point of contact for Greater China and the face of medical science to internal stakeholders, partners and external bodies.The successful candidate will drive medical science-led innovation, evidence generation and commercial alignment, balancing scientific rigor, regulatory compliance and business growth across a diverse portfolio.
  • Provide global medical science leadership and technical expertise for Consumer Healthcare category, ensuring scientific insights drive product development, maintenance and commercial promotion
  • Lead the China medical science function as the primary regional contact, embedding practices across relevant categories, and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver China business objectives
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of over 20 medical science professionals, overseeing recruitment, retention, resource deployment and budget management for the function
  • Define and execute global and China-specific medical/evidence strategies in partnership with R&D and commercial leaders, driving efficient product development and pipeline innovation (base to breakthrough)
  • Curate and leverage global and local KOL networks, lead scientific advisory boards and implement robust publication strategies to build scientific credibility and brand advocacy
  • Oversee regulatory dossier development, clinical protocol design/execution and evidence interpretation to support global product registration and China market access
  • Approve medical-marketing materials, provide scientific competitive intelligence and defend product claims; balance fair, evidence-based efficacy/safety assessment with brand growth objectives
  • Collaborate with innovation/science platforms to translate emerging technologies (e.g., Material Science, Microbiome) into tangible business opportunities for the Wellness portfolio
  • Ensure adherence to medical/clinical governance and regulatory compliance across China and global operations, while maintaining competitive agility
  • Act as the senior medical science representative for key internal and external (regulatory agencies, JV partners) meetings, and liaise with cross-business units (e.g., Hygiene) to align medical science delivery

  • Advanced scientific/medical/pharmacy degree (or equivalent) with deep expertise in the consumer healthcare/pharmaceutical industry (essential)
  • Significant experience in healthcare/wellness medical affairs, with a strong track record in China (global/regional experience highly desirable)
  • Preferred expertise in consumer healthcare, medical devices, skin care and/or microbiome
  • Comprehensive knowledge of China's healthcare/consumer health regulations, plus international regulatory frameworks for product registration, clinical research and evidence generation
  • Proven leadership in matrixed environments, with experience managing large teams, budgets and cross-functional stakeholder relationships at senior levels
  • Expertise in clinical trial design, evidence generation, KOL management and scientific publication strategy
  • Strong ability to interpret, communicate and translate complex scientific/clinical data into actionable business and product strategies
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English; ability to operate across time zones and global locations
  • Commercial acumen to align medical science with business objectives, and experience collaborating with commercial teams
