We are looking for a Director of Study for an International School based in Guangzhou. This position is available from the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year, commencing in August 2026.About the schoolLocated in Guangzhou's Panyu district, this bilingual school offers a unique educational experience, combining Eastern and Western teaching methods for primary and middle school students. Built on the national curriculum and enriched with internationally recognized programs, the school provides modern facilities, including resource centers, computer and science labs, a STEAM hub, an art studio, and photography darkrooms, ensuring a well-rounded and engaging learning environment.About the roleTo provide leadership, direction, and support to the academic senior leadership team in maintaining high standards of curriculum quality and student achievement. The role also helps shape the school's academic direction and contributes as a key member of the senior leadership team, with overall responsibility for leading teaching and learning, supporting student outcomes, and driving enrolment growth.Job details
  • Lead the school's academic strategy in line with overall school goals and quality standards.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of a balanced, challenging curriculum for bilingual learners.
  • Ensure the curriculum prepares students well for IGCSE, IB, A-Level, and Chinese examinations.
  • Monitor academic performance and lead ongoing evaluation and improvement across the school.
  • Maintain high academic standards through effective quality assurance, benchmarking, and review processes.
  • Lead the development of whole-school curriculum and assessment frameworks across primary and secondary levels.
  • Oversee student performance tracking, academic data systems, and reporting processes to support achievement.
  • Use assessment data to guide curriculum improvements, student placement, and targeted interventions.
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to drive school improvement and academic excellence.
  • Support the recruitment, development, performance management, and retention of high-quality teaching staff.
  • Promote a culture of high expectations, accountability, equality, and continuous professional growth.
  • Strengthen teaching and learning by reviewing standards, supporting staff, and promoting best practices.
  • Support admissions and marketing activities by engaging with prospective families and promoting the school's educational vision.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and represent the school positively within the wider community.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, resource management, compliance, and the effective use of the school budget.
Qualifications
  • University educated with an Honors degree
  • Hold a recognized teaching qualification
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Further degree of educational or leadership qualification
  • Strong understanding of IB, A-Level, and their integration with the Chinese National Curriculum
